About Josephine Community Library Foundation
We raise money for our libraries
Josephine Community Library Foundation is a nonprofit that raises and stewards funds for projects beyond the library’s tax-funded operating budget. The foundation supports initiatives that strengthen community and expand access to information—through updated facilities, modern technology, and diverse materials.
Our vision: library users of all ages find what they need—whether it’s the latest books, a welcoming teen space, reliable computers and Internet, or safe, inviting buildings. The foundation also provides library card scholarships for children who live outside the district.
Working with the library district, the foundation has helped build the new Williams library and expand the Illinois Valley branch. Now, the next chapter is a new main library in Grants Pass—and with the support of local champions, this vision can become a reality.
How we started
Volunteers formed the nonprofit foundation in 1987 as a way for community members to donate for the direct benefit of local libraries. More than 30 years later, this important work continues as the foundation continues to support a library system that will thrive for generations to come.
How we evolved
In May 2017, voters approved the Josephine Community Library District. Now, in partnership with the library district, the foundation has taken on the responsibility of raising funds for special programs and building projects the library could not otherwise afford.
