The new Williams library is thriving!
Over 150 community members, volunteers, and staff celebrate the grand opening of the new Williams library on October 7, 2023. In its first year of operation, 165 new library cards were issued at the new Williams library branch. Usage increased by 77%, including attendance at weekly storytimes and K-9 Reading Buddies. The library has also maintained its partnership with the community preschool.

History
The original Williams library was built in 1977 as a temporary mobile unit. Though well-loved and well-used by the Williams community, the building had no running water and no bathroom.
Proceeds from the sale of donated property made it possible for the foundation to purchase a beautiful piece
of land with an existing structure, which was expertly renovated beginning in July 2023.
Now the Williams library includes running water, a restroom, an expanded collection of books and other materials, updated technology (including broadband internet), a designated children’s area, 1,000 square feet of library use, and ADA-parking.
Partners and Funding
Over 100 donors and community members made the new Williams library possible. Funding for the design and construction of this project came from local donors, including a community crowdfund which raised $140,000.
Other funders include Four Way Community Foundation, Oregon Community Foundation, A Greater Applegate, Roundhouse Foundation, Ford Family Foundation, and a grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) via the Oregon State Legislature and Rep. Morgan.
The purchase of property for the new Williams library was made possible using proceeds from the sale of a donated property in Williams.
Foundation and library leaders worked with ZCS Engineering & Architecture, Inc. and Vitus Construction, Inc. to design and renovate an existing 1000-square-foot building into a public library space.
