Library foundation exceeds fundraising goal for New Williams Library

Williams, June 30, 2022 —Josephine Community Library Foundation’s New Williams Library Fundraising Drive, which will fund a new facility for the Williams branch of Josephine Community Library District, has exceeded its goal of $135,000 goal during the month of June 2022.

On the last day of the drive, the community exceeded the goal raising $140,000 to build the New Williams Library. Thanks to a generous $70,000 matching gift from Southern Oregon Sanitation and other local donors, every dollar the community raised was matched.

“The Applegate Valley community is vibrant and growing,” said Executive Director Rebecca Stoltz. “We are excited to build a more modern library and improve library services for everyone. We are so thankful to everyone who supported this project.”

The new facility will include running water, a restroom, expanded books and other materials, updated technology including broadband Internet, a designated children’s area, and 1,000 square feet of library use.

The New Williams Library project is projected to cost $825,000 for engineering, construction, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The library foundation has raised $690,000 from previous donations, grants, and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding that was designated to the foundation by State Representative Lily Morgan.

The purchase of property for the new Williams library was made possible using proceeds from the sale of a donated property in Williams. Additional grants from the Four Way Community Foundation and a library trust will help pay for ADA-parking at the new location to support the project.
