Library foundation purchases property for new Williams library

Williams, February 4, 2022 — The library foundation has finalized the purchase of property at 20140 Williams Highway as part of its New Williams Library Phase One project.

The purchase was made possible using proceeds from the sale of a donated property in Williams and federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding that was designated to the foundation by State Representative Lily Morgan.

“We are so excited to be taking this step towards offering Williams residents the library facilities they deserve,” said Josephine Community Library Foundation Executive Director Rebecca Stoltz. “This community has long outgrown their current, overcrowded library with no running water or bathroom.”

The current Williams library was constructed in 1977 as a temporary unit. It has no running water and no bathroom. A new library will resolve severe overcrowding, the lack of bathrooms and running water, and important Wi-Fi and Internet access for rural residents.
